2 classics for the price of one!
On a halloween note.. did anyone else find the cover of Struwwelpeter as a child terrifying?
If you haven't seen the 1848 classic by Dr Heinrich Hoffmann then look here

Frankie goes to Dollywood

Appologies for the bad gag :)
I think this was inspired by a great drawing of a monster in cowboy boots by my mate Sam Hearn!

Seasonal characters

After being bombarded with all things Halloween where ever I seem to look, I thought I'd do a few mini creepies of my own.

more fan art

I had so much fun yesterday that I couldn't resist doing more fan art. David Mckee's strange compositions, colours and weird trees really draw you into his world. I can see me doing the whole book when I get time :)

Not Now, Bernard (with apologies to David McKee)

Every time my little Niece visits us, she insists on me reading her Not Now, Bernard. One of my favorite childhood books... I hope David McKee isn't too offended by my affectionate tribute!
David McKee has been a big influence on my work over the years.

Night drive

I've always been rubbish at drawing cars. I thought I'd see if there is a way to draw cars so badly that they look quite good!
I also wanted to try to capture the look of car lights at night.

There's A Riot Goin'

Thanks to my old mate Warwick letting me know about the Beck's music inspired art project, I whipped off my own design for the sleeve art to Sly and the family Stone's classic album.
This was great fun to do, I'd recommend getting involved :)
By the way - Warwick has done a fab version of Exile!

Been extremely busy moving into our new house this week.... I did however find a few mins to do this rather p'd off Demon.

Wednesday, 24 June 2009

Been really busy recently, but have been doing the odd doodle of mythical beasts in my spare time. Managed to find time to colour this little Satyr up - hopefully I'll get a few more done soon.

TV doodles

These were a bunch of little doodles done while watching TV.
Quite liked them - so compiled with a little colour.
Octopus's with noses are so wrong!

I've since learned through Sam Hearn that octopi have actually been depicted with noses several centuries ago in Japan. Thanks for the pic Sam, and for justifying my doodle!

Sunday doodle session

Thought I'd try a bit of charcoal for a change.
I wasn't feeling particularly miserable, but the critters clearly are!

Wrestle city

Here's a few wrestling doodles I did inspired by my old mate Warwick's fantastic blog

Check it out - its great!
Warwick was good enough to feature these on his wrestle city gallery too. Great to see them up on a decent blog!

Belly Laugh

One of a couple of hundred line drawings I did for a food themed joke book.

How do you make a monster stew?
Keep it waiting for two hours.

I love crap jokes!

Team Blunt

fruit corner

Drawing fruit with faces is fun!

Valentines cards

Here's one of 6 designs that I've done for Black Olive cards exclusively for Paperchase.
I'm not sure how romantic this would be without the writing!
